Ever Pull Cards That Seem To Have No Meaning To Your Questions?

We all have at some point while learning divination. And, often, we are able to do readings for others with much more ease or accuracy than we can for ourselves. That’s because we have more preconceived notions about ourselves… but why do the cards not always line up with the questions or what’s going on?

Card meanings are fluid, meaning they can change or be different from one person to next, one reading to the next. Let’s examine a 3 card reading I did in August on social media.

For this general intuitive reading on my social media @Elementals_World, the Dew, Well & Downstream cards were chosen. If these cards were drawn individually, they would give a more simple, straightforward answer in most cases.

DEW symbolizes promise, renewal, clarity

When this card is drawn for myself, I see the lushness & growth (promise/renewal) but also the tangle and layers of the blades with the clover which could indicate either a messy situation or a creative organization, depending on what I had asked about. Then I notice the dandelion which looks like a little sun rising above (clarity?)… and the dew drops? Moments of clarity in a messy world? Nourishment along my many paths? Shiny drops of inspiration as I weave my way through life? The dew can have the indication of promise, renewal, clarity and more!

WELL symbolizes family, memories, ancestors

If I pull this card for myself, it is usually time to connect to the past, meaning reach out to my ancestors OR let go of the past (or something that is worrying me). Well may want you to go deep to resolve an issue or be telling you that thing you buried isn’t going away… you need to draw it up and deal with it!

DOWNSTREAM symbolizes flow, optimism

Do you see the water moving fast or slow? This could flip flop depending on your question. The main thing in Downstream is that there is movement, flow… and when we think of flow, we imagine ease and comfort and moving in the right direction. In this card, the sun is smiling down on us as we move along.

The dew drops symbolize the little things (or a specific thing) that is sticking to you, that you can't shake or has been bugging you. The well is saying it is something from your past (yesterday, last week but prob longer) that is weighing you down... this could be family or spousal related or if you are a workaholic and spend a lot of time at work it could be your work family.
Downstream is telling you to let it go and holds the promise of a bright day ahead if you can. The sun is a symbol of happiness and clarity.
